Manifesting timeless leisure in a clothing and homewares brand.

Casaprima is a personal project. A clothing brand that started as a homewares brand. A place to explore the idea of timeless objects and graphics. A way to make things that exist in the world rather than just on a screen.

With full control over creative direction and product, we tackled everything from naming, logo, graphic design, web design, copywriting, photography and more.

The goal was to keep the budget tight and the brand assets simple while still building a powerful, emotional brand with room to grow.

Naming for the future

Like any early stage startup, Materia's story is just getting started. Even though the first chapter is about organ transplant technology, the team expressed excitement about future paths the company could take in the medical space. Because of this, we needed to find an appropriate name for both today and tomorrow.

"Materia", Latin for "material" connects with the function of the organ transplant product, it highlights a grounded perspective of what is practical and useful in the world, and it allows the company to go in any direction it needs to down the line.

We also defined a naming convention for Materia products, with simple one syllable descriptors added to the brand name, such as Materia POD, Materia CASE, Materia PATCH, etc.

Making it real

The goal with Materia's brand identity was to make their vision feel as real as possible for potential partners, investors and customers. This meant creating a robust visual language and brand aesthetic far beyond what many pre-seed startups would consider possible.

Working with industrial designers, Materia's new brand identity and vision were expressed in fully realised product design and presentations, which were used to secure grants, funding and patents.

More to come.
